Personal Update
This past weekend, I ran into an old friend at the airport. His first question was, “Where have you been hiding?”
A large part of my answer has to do with this photo. For the last several months, I’ve been working on a project that I hope helps a particular group of people — those who are trying to figure out what to do next.
It’s suddenly a very large group of people. Millions upon millions are simply walking away from their current role and waking up the next day with an important, often perplexing question: “What do I do next?”
It’s perplexing because it brings a lot of uncertainty with it. And if we’re not careful, uncertainty can paralyze us. That’s one of the many reasons I wrote “What to do Next: Taking your Best Step when Life is Uncertain.”
There’s a key principle that runs through the book: “Don’t let what you don’t know rob you of what you can do.” In the middle of uncertainty, there are steps of certainty that you can take. I don’t just say this from theory. It’s what I’ve experienced.
“What to do Next” starts on my last day as lead pastor of Gwinnett Church. It chronicles my journey of trying to move through uncertainty to discover what I’m doing now. There are LOTS of ups and downs, wins and losses over this journey. I’m not going to lie — discovering what’s next is hard. But it’s always worth it.
While this isn’t a memoir, I do want to share my real-life experiences which I believe can help you. In fact, here are just a few of the many practical strategies in the book:
* Career Risk Calculator. (A free assessment helping you manage the risk of what’s next.)
* How to build your personal network. (What you do is often connected to who you know.)
* What to do while you wait.
* How to create a Personal Advisory Board.
* How to create optimal options for your future.
All of this is designed to release you from the pressure of trying to figure out what to do with the rest of your life. You don’t have to figure that out. You just have to figure out what to do next.
All that said, “What to do Next” releases on Tuesday, August 23rd. The reason I’m telling our email community about it today is because I have a favor to ask:
Will you pre-order the book right now? CLICK HERE TO PREORDER
Here’s why: As you may remember, the FOR book was out of inventory for several weeks after it sold out back in October. Due to supply chain issues, it took a while to resupply inventory. I want you to secure your book when it releases in August and pre-ordering now will help that. Additionally, it will help Zondervan know how many we should print on the first run.
If you’re not currently in a season of trying to figure out what’s next, order one for someone who is. Yes, this is my story of finding what was next, but I believe it can help theirs, and yours.
For You,
Jeff Henderson
I have already pre-ordered your next book via Audible but I don’t see it in my library yet. Will it automatically populate my library when you release it on August 23?
I think that’s the case. If it doesn’t populate on that date, reach back out and we will make sure you get it.
Jeff- my local library was able to get this for me. I’m currently unemployed and looking for my next adventure. Thank you for sharing your journey with us and for guiding us. I will follow up later how this and FOR books have helped me along the way.
